Welcome to Urchfont Cricket Club Celebrating 30 Years of Cricket
Urchfont Cricket Club are celebrating 30 years of cricket in 2012, our first match having taken place on 26th May 1982. A number of events are being planned and as part of these celebrations the club has commissioned a ‘special' commemorative club badge for use during this calendar year only. You can see this special badge on the home page and there will be limited edition club kit available in time for the start of the new season as lasting momentous.
The club welcomes everyone, whether you are already a member, interested in becoming a member or just browsing our website. We apologise for not keeping this site as up to date as it could have been in the past. However regular updates are now planned and we hope to make some further improvements very soon.
We are a small, friendly, village cricket club with a competitive Saturday League side, a Sunday side playing friendly matches, sometimes against some very interesting touring sides and a very popular mid-week Wednesday evening side, playing friendly matches against local opposition.
Unfortunately we do not have a Youth section at the moment. However The Committee are keen to re-introduce a Youth section and are eagerly looking for anyone that can help with this.
Think you are too old to play but still love the game and have some time on your hands? What about becoming an Umpire? Urchfont CC in partnership with Wiltshire Association of Cricket Officials is happy to provide training and a contribution to travelling expenses for each match.

NEWSLETTER - May 2012
As I write this newsletter, it’s hard to believe that by the time it is published in Redhorn News, the weather will have changed from the current mid April cold snap, to early May warm sunshine and perfect cricketing (and Scarecrow festival) weather – at least I hope so!
The ground is already looking good and ready to play on. Our head groundsman (Paul Slater) has got a small group of helpers – but please let him know if you want to be added to the list! The captains are confident that they can put full teams out - but don’t let that stop you joining – all new players of any standard are most welcome, and will be guaranteed some games!
Members and friends of the club can now order an exclusive range of cricket playing, training and leisure wear. This is available to order online from our new club shop at:
http://kalibazar.co.uk/shop.ink?club=urchfontcc
The full range includes a number of items, from the usual playing gear but also a new midweek playing shirt, shorts and much, much, more. All sizes are catered for both senior and junior and each garment will be available in club colours, including club badge and QDOS Homes logo, our principal club sponsor for 2012.
We are still awaiting news about the future of the ground, but remain optimistic that cricket will be played at Newsyde for years to come. We are also in discussions with Urchfont Croquet club, and if they lose their current facilities, it looks as if we can find a suitable home for them at Newsyde – watch this space.
The fixture list for 2012 is now available at the cricket ground, the Lamb Inn, and on-line by following the links on the new Parish Website:
www.urchfont-pc.gov.uk/Community/Urchfont_Cricket_Club.aspx
For any other cricket club information, please contact Dave Mottram on 01380 840612 or admottram@googlemail.com
